Meetings

Our meetings are held the fourth Wednesday of each month, May through October.

We have prepared another great season featuring family histories and presentations by family members. Here is the schedule:

  • June 22, 2005 – The Story of the Fred Kasten Family, by Emma (Kasten) Rice. Emma will relive the life of her parents Fred and Louise. Fred had a positive influence on his family as well as his community. He came to the township of Jacksonport in 1906 and was a member of the school board, town board, county agriculture committee, and also a church council member.
  • July 27, 2005 – The Henry C. Sr. and Henry Jr. Graf Families in Jacksonport. Henry C. Graf, his wife Amelia, and two children left Germany and came to Jacksonport in the late 1880s. They cleared the land to farm and raise their family. Henry was the treasurer for the Farview School for fifteen years. The fascinating stories of this family will be told by members of the Graf family.
  • August 24, 2005 – The August Anschutz Families in Jacksonport, by Betty (Anschutz) Graf and Sandy (Anschutz) Vanderloop. Family members will enlighten us with memories of this talented family in Jacksonport. They were carpenters, farmers, and blacksmiths. In quiting from the obituary of August Anschutz, Sr., in the Door Couny Advocate: “Seventy-one teams followed the remains to the town cemetery near Lake Michigan. There he now rests by the side of his wife, may the sod be ever green on his grave.”
  • September 28, 2005 – Dinner Meeting at Sweet Lou’s in Jacksonport. Mona Orthober will present the history of this building.
  • October 26, 2005 – The Muellers in Jacksonport, by Evelyn (Luethge) Mueller, Marlene (Mueller) Larson, and Delores (Mueller) Hartung. Members of the Arthur and Emma (Schleicher) family will introduce us to the most recent cheese maker in Jacksonport. Arthur and Emma’s sons were truckers, farmers, educators and town officers.

Meeting Time: 7PM, with the exception of our dinner meetings. Details on the dinner meeting will be forthcoming.

Lunch is served after our family presentations and everyone is always welcome. More information on our families can be found in our newsletters, also on this Website and in the books.
