This is the official site of the Glidden Drive Association, Inc., a neighborhood property owner's group in Door County, Wisconsin, USA.

Latest News & Scheduled Events


  • Annual meeting, July 10, at the Sevastopol Town Hall. Come early for coffee & donuts; the meeting starts at 10AM.

  • MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS EARLY for the GDA Summer Picnic to be held at the Sevastopol Town Park Pavilion, August 28, 2010. We will be taking reservations and dues at the annual meeting. For the picnic, $15 per person for adults, children under 10, free. This will be catered by Scaturo's; beverages furnished by GDA.

  • Men's Coffee is being held at the Happy Hour in Valmy, 9AM every Wednesday. $4 gets you unlimited coffee, donuts, and advice.

  • We have Neighborhood Watch stickers for windows and cars. Below is the design, printed in dark green, 3 inches square. Contact any board member for them.

  • Here is the proposal for the Dunes Lake Watershed Project from the Door County Soil & Water Dept. which was discussed at our 2008 annual meeting. Here is a similar study done for Clark Lake.

  • Many members have asked for links to Internet speed tests. Here is the one I have found most useful, and it is endorsed by Charter. Note that it is limited by the CPU speed of your computer, so older computers won't show the maximum thruput.
    For local Charter customers, there are three speed ranges:
    1. 5Mb/sec down, 512K up
    2. 10Mb/sec down, 1Mb up
    3. 20Mb/sec down, 2Mb/sec up
    The speed you get should match the speed you are paying for within reasonable variations.

  • Here are links to the Irish songs mentioned on page 8 of the January 2007 newsletter. All are sung by Chuck Hansen. Instruments and arrangements are by Laddie Chapman with a little help from Internet MIDI sources.

    All are MP3 files, which should be easily playable by most computers. WARNING: These files are large (1 to 3MB each) and a high speed Internet connection is advised.

  • To check on tax records or assessment numbers, these Door County sites are useful. The Land Records site is the most current with text data only. For online maps and tax data, use this site, but do not rely on the tax data as current.

  • The following are caretakers that service the Glidden area. Most provide snow plowing and lawn mowing either on request or as part of a seasonal contract. This list is provided as a service to members and does not indicate any endorsement by the Association. If you have been left off or know of someone who has, please contact us for possible inclusion.

  • If you currently own property on Glidden Drive in Door County, Wisconsin, you are eligible to join our Association. You may download the application form here. asterisk Complete instructions are on the form. A full-color brochure is available here: (PAGE 1 asterisk / PAGE 2 asterisk).

  • A new web site for Door County map & tax information is now available, where you can see satellite images overlayed with property boundary lines and many other overlay options. You can find the owner of any parcel, or conversely, find the location of any parcel given the address. It's pretty impressive, check it out!
    A high-speed Internet connection is a must; if you have only a dialup, be prepared for a lot of waiting, so brew a big pot of coffee.
